Tracing its origins back to 1860 on the Ponte alla Grazie in Florence, Italy, Panerai began as a modest watchmaker’s shop and the city’s first watchmaking school. Since, the company has become the official supplier to the Royal Italian Navy and repositioned itself as a luxury watch brand under the Richemont Group. Looking to enter into the Hudson Yards market, Panerai selected TPG Architecture to implement the design and construction of the store.
With the concept for Panerai’s store created and completed by the brand’s internal team in Italy, TPG was tasked with utilizing our prior experience within Hudson Yards to accurately translate the luxury design. The store is situated among the other Richemont brands and looks out to the Vessel and neighboring plaza. In line with its target clientele, the store exudes a prominent masculine energy, evident in the choice of dark paneling and cool tones throughout the space. All of the millwork and stone selected for the store were imported from Italy. On the back wall, a striking clock face creates a focal point, with the surrounding merchandise display cases branching off. The store also includes an exclusive, lush VIP lounge for select shoppers.
