TPG was enlisted by Wyndham Hotel and Resorts to design a new Microtel Moda prototype to help reposition the brand to appeal to a new array of guests and business travelers. The scope of the project provided a unique opportunity for TPG to design a modern hotel experience that provides guests with a consistent, seamless stay in each location. The design concept is anticipated to be implemented in locations throughout the U.S. and Canada in both three-story and four-story iterations.
The color scheme and design draw inspiration from the brand’s logo and core mission to create efficient experiences – for both hotel operators and on-the-go guests. The lobby and reception area are designed to support daily business operations and create an initial welcoming environment for guests. The space includes a 24/7 coffee station, a nearby micro mart for quick purchases, and in some locations a bar. The entry space also accommodates the hotel’s free, robust breakfast offering with a flexible service station and ample seating options for guests.
For each of the guest rooms, the team had the challenge of constructing the design and layout of all the amenities within a small footprint. Since the hotel often welcomes repeat guests, the design is uniform in each location. The configuration of the furniture and technology is designed to maximize space and provide an ease of accessibility for guests. Case goods are perfectly sized for modularity and to maximize the efficiency for every guest’s need. Notably within each room, a signature bench was designed over the PTAC unit – a thoughtful and comfortable element within the space. Additionally, the team’s design package includes all public spaces such as corridors, meeting rooms, fitness centers, and other amenity spaces
