With a premier location on Park Avenue, TPG's design activates the Capital One branch interior with dynamic lighting and texture.

Location New York, NY
Size 6,800 SF
Year 2019

Reflecting Capital One’s strategy of creating “a whole new way of banking” that “fits your life”, the intent for this retail location at 299 Park Avenue was to create a dynamic non-traditional banking environment with different options for engagement with customers. Tailored for the career-driven professionals who work in the neighborhood, the space reflects Capital One’s tag line of “personal banking reimagined”.

A variety of space typologies were created for different types of interaction with guests from one-on-one private engagements, to sitting with a customer using an iPad, as well as areas for special events. The interior has an urban, hospitality-driven aesthetic, characterized by polished concrete, light wood, sophisticated grays and camel tones, with modernist furniture and lighting.

The lighting, particularly in the feature wall positioned behind the ATM vestibule, also contributes to the branch’s sense of grandeur, as the ceilings reach up to eighteen feet. Further back above the teller line, another vibrant feature wall with a color-changing setting was put in place. The lights can be easily changed to reflect a holiday or event, which further contributes to Capital One’s strategy of creating personal connections with guests.

For the lighting, the team designed the entry ATM vestibule wall with embedded, illuminated three-dimensional boxes, which creates a strong visual statement when viewed from the sidewalk and street.
