In 2011, TPG completed the New York office for Torys. As the firm’s only presence in the US market, the team sought to make a striking design that implemented relevant trends in the legal industry. A decade later, they returned to TPG to reimagine their workplace, this time with a user-centric approach and an emphasis on planning efficiency.
TPG’s Strategy Studio was engaged in a full scope of services, working firm-wide with participants through employee surveys and focus groups. Out of these sessions, the leading workplace principles that came forth included flexibility, wellness, ergonomics, and choice. Additionally, to accommodate the firm’s growth, universal-sized offices along the perimeter needed to anchor the progressive direction for the office.
The new design implements lighter finishes to create a sophisticated, bright, and welcoming atmosphere. The two large conference rooms remain close to reception, modified with a folding glass wall that can create a larger gathering space with ease. To support impromptu meetings and mentorship, additional conference rooms are found at each corner of the plan. Within the offices, modular furniture gives staff a newfound sense of autonomy. Further, the working café was relocated to a larger and more accessible area of the floor. Here, staff have plenty of settings to choose from including banquettes, sofas, and high tops.
