A renowned litigation firm strikes a balance between traditional law firm planning and new progressive office elements.

Location New York, NY
Size 173,000 SF
Year 2013

The famed New York City law firm Kasowitz Benson Torres engaged TPG to design their new office space at 1633 Broadway. The project was a renovation of their existing space, with the primary goal of creating an amenable workplace that would accommodate future staff growth in a reduced footprint. The client also sought to create a space that would be the manifestation of their identity and core values.

The client’s previous space was 256,000 square feet on 6 floors. This project was a significant consolidation into 173,000 square feet on 3 and a half floors, achieving a highly-efficient 621 RSF per attorney. With our help, the client was able to keep some elements of traditional law firm planning, such as large partner offices, while also significantly reducing their real estate footprint.

The new design combines trend-setting elements such as glass office fronts, flexible spaces, and modular furniture to create an engaging new workplace. The space standards and design aesthetic that we defined in this project have set the tone for the firm’s nationwide office program, and they have already been implemented in several other locations.
