We had a great time participating in Architecture for Humanity New York's inaugural Day of Impact, on October 25, 2014. Our volunteer team worked with Build It Green NYC in Long Island City to help beautify a bike lane on Vernon Boulevard. This last stretch of the bike lane was to complete an effort that was started early this summer. By removing the pavers in place and planting daffodils within current tree beds, the volunteer team was able to beautify a bike lane, as well as help diminish storm water runoff which can flood our sewers.

Architecture for Humanity New York, in conjunction with multiple partners, developed Day of Impact to provide volunteers with short-commitment opportunities to help better our New York City communities. Partnering with like-minded organizations such as Build It Green NYC, provided an opportunity to have a variety of sites dispersed throughout the city. The chapter which started in 2003, is the first and largest of 59 chapters worldwide, and currently services the 5 boroughs of New York City.
