TPG LI Completes Green Project

Sustainable Long Island Bethpage, NY

New York State Real Estate Journal

TPG Long Island recently provided architectural and design services for Sustainable Long Island, a non profit facilitator for sustainable development. Sustainable Long Island promotes economic land development, environmental health and equity for all Long Islanders and provides tools to make sustainable development possible on Long Island.

The scope of the project included obtaining a location that was more visible so the community would gain a deeper interest and understanding of Sustainable Long Island. They also required an environmentally responsible and flexible design for their employees.

The design solution consisted of pushing the private offices into the interior of the space, while positioning the open workstations around the perimeter of the floor plate. This allows all employees to share the natural light and indirect lighting. Many of the materials used throughout the this project are “green,” including the use of low VOC products and materials with high recycling content, such as carpeting and paint. Natural products including flooring and wall covering were also used generously throughout the space. The finished product consists of warm and bright space that echoes the very mission of Sustainable Long Island.
